The Practice Schedule for the 2009 Wolfpack Lax season has now been finalized. Practices for all teams will start February 17th, 2009. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 4:30 pm and going till 6:00 pm, or until we are back on DST, till it’s dark. Like last year, all practices will be at the Asa Mercer Middle School field on Beacon Hill.

We believe games will commence mid-March and run for ten weeks or so. As soon as the League finalizes the schedule, we’ll get that info out as well. When possible, our different age groups will hopefully play at the same location, so parents with multiple players won’t have to drive all over creation on Saturdays. This will not always work, since some of the clubs we compete with do not field the same number of teams that we do. No promises...

Thank you to everyone for getting all your paperwork and fees in in such a timely fashion. There is one small yet important piece of housekeeping that we need yet. Before any player takes the field in either a practice or game situation, we MUST have a current US Lacrosse Association number on file. We currently have a list of players who did not supply that info along with their registration materials. We’ll send out a separate email to those players. Players who have their numbers from previous seasons are reminded to renew. These are annual memberships. You can easily check your player’s status by going to the Registration page, and following the appropriate link.

As the start of the season approaches, this portal will be updated regularly with Club news. We will be posting game schedules, along with accurate information as to away game locations. Last season, we also attempted to provide game summaries that went a bit beyond posting the score and standings. To do that this year, we’ll need several volunteers willing to write a brief recap of each game and get in to us so we can post it. This is your opportunity to channel the late John Updike, or at least, JImmy Olson with your riveting narratives. If you are interested, drop us a line, and we’ll get you set up with your press credentials (i.e...pad and pencil). If you own a camera, you can use that too.

Just a reminder that this Tuesday, January 27th, will see another of Peter Vogt’s Preseason Lax Clinics (for 7/8-players only, please) at Sodo Arena Sports. This one will be from 3:30-4:30 pm. Since it’s only an hour, all players should be prompt. Send your player with $5 for Peter to help offset the cost of these sessions that’s he’s arranged and paid for out of his own pocket. At least it’ll keep him in gas money...

We are in the final stages of setting team rosters. If you have registered via our web form but have not either:

• attended the parent meeting earlier this month,
• turned in your registration fees or
• turned in the signed Liability Waivers

you are soon to be out of luck. Please contact us ASAP to let us know of your intentions.

Players who were on all Wait lists will be assigned to the team of their choosing. 7/8 grade players will not have final team assignments made until after the Practice season commences to allow coaches time to assess skills. It is our intention to field two teams of equal strength, divided somewhat along high school preferences. More information will follow.

It seems there has been some confusion regarding the remaining dates for the preseason workouts at Arena Sports (SODO). The remaining dates and times are as follows:

• January 27, 2009 @ 3:30-4:30 pm
• February 3, 2009 @ 3:30-5:30 pm

Please note: These sessions are for 7/8 players only.

There is NO practice session today, no matter what you may have heard. Sorry if this catches some of you off-guard...

Sorry about the late notice, but Peter Vogt, one of our 7/8 coaches has just reminded us that he’ll be holding another of his preseason practice clinics tomorrow at the SODO Arena Sports from 3:30-4:30. Please be prompt, he has the field for only one hour.

Since he’s laid out the money for these sessions, please drop him $5 or so so he doesn’t go broke.

Due to the shortened time frame, he’d like to limit this session to the 7th and 8th grade players. Contact Peter V with any questions...

Registration for the 2009 Wolfpack Lacrosse season are now closed for all levels except the 5/6 grade team.
