Weekend Games for 3/6/2K10

Greetings, Wolfpack Nation!

This Saturday, March 6th sees all three Wolfpack Teams in action. The 5/6 squad starts the day off with a 10:30 am contest against the 5/6 Bainbridge Blue team at
Cleveland High School.Players are requested to be suited up and ready for warm ups 45 minutes before the game.

The 7/8 Wolfpack will meet their 7/8 Bainbridge Blue counterparts at 12:15pm, also at
Cleveland. The Bainbridge teams are LAX powerhouses, with at least two, and sometimes three full squads at all age levels. They will surely be a test for the Wolfpack teams. Please be at the field 45 minutes before the game for warm ups.

The final game of the day will feature the 3/4 squad in an away game against the 3/4 Magnolia Black. This is a club that had its start about the same time that we started, so they are a great competitor, especially so last year when they fielded a team made up of both Magnolia and Queen Anne kids. Their game will get underway at 3pm at
Whitman MS field up there in Ballard, you betcha... Please arrive 30 minutes prior to game time...

The weather looks promising, but LAX, being an all weather event, will go on rain, snow, or shine. Players and parents should be sure to dress for the elements.

Good luck to all this weekend.

GO WOLFPACK!!

Practices in full swing...

Practices for the 2010 season are now in full swing. All three Wolfpack teams meet Mondays and Wednesdays at
Georgetown Playfield right off of Corson Ave and I-5. Sessions run from 5-7pm under the lights...

We now have the schedules for all games. The
3/4 Schedule, the 5/6 Schedule and the 7/8 Schedules are available for viewing and download. We will get them on the Calendar soon.

All games are on Saturdays, with our home games at
Cleveland High School. When possible our Club’s games will run consecutively, starting with the youngest guys about 9am, and the oldest guys about 1pm.

Each home team is responsible for supplying an official scorekeeper and a timer. The club has a number of LaxClocks which can be used as necessary. The club is also responsible for setting up the goals at the start of play, and hauling them off at the end of the day. Each team will have their own set of goals to use for the season, for both practice and game play. The club also has a foldable scorer’s table and a collapsable awning to keep the scorer’s and officials dry.

As a reminder,
WALAX is sponsoring a scorekeeper/timer’s clinic next Saturday the 28th. This is a great way to learn the rules of the game and fulfill your volunteer commitment. Details can be found here.

See you all next week!

Practice Times and Location

The practice times and location have been set for this season. We have finally made some progress, and have gotten out of The Swamp. Practices will be at the
Georgetown Playfield, a lighted turf field.

As in past years, all three teams will practice concurrently. Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Individual coaches may adjust this schedule as they see fit, so stay tuned for any update.

Practice for the 2010 Wolfpack season will start on Monday, February 15th.

All of our home games will be at
Cleveland High School, where we’ve played for the past 3 years. This is a natural grass field, in pretty good shape, although Parks and Recreation sometimes need to be reminded to mow it.

When possible, all three of our teams will play consecutively on Saturdays, with the younger teams playing first. The game schedule has not yet been finalized, but will start in early March.

As a reminder, please check that your son’s US Lacrosse membership is up to date. Each membership must be renewed annually.

We cannot allow any player who has not submitted this number to us to participate.

Membership in US Lacrosse provides valuable insurance in the chance that your player sustains a lacrosse-related injury during a sanctioned event. With your registration you get a subscription to their magazine, a nice sticker for the minivan or SUV, and occasional discounts on equipment and clinics. At $25, it’s also one of the cheaper lacrosse related thing you will find!

Check your player’s status, renew, or apply for a new membership by checking the
US Lacrosse Membership page.

Parent Meeting Reminder

Please remember to set aside the evening of Monday, January 25, 2010 for the mandatory Parent meeting for all registered players. This orientation meeting will be held at the Rainier Community Center from 6:30-8pm. At least one parent or guardian for each registered player must attend in order to secure their roster spot. We have a high demand for spaces this year, please do not jeopardize your players’ chance to play.

We will collect signed
Liability Waivers (please print, complete, and bring with you), remembering that your player needs to sign the Concussion Info Form, and payment (check only) for the registration fee due.

League Coodinator
Ryan Kelly will give a brief introduction to new parents and present the goals and aims of the program. Info about the practice schedule and location will be presented. Opportunities for parent volunteers will also be discussed. Coaches will be introduced, and there will be a question and answer session for all parents.

There will be a clinic for all parents interested in helping out at games, either by becoming a referee or a scorekeeper/timer. Each home team is required to provide a scorer and a timekeeper, so this is an excellent opportunity to learn or refine those skills. Our program depends heavily on parent volunteers and you help is always welcome. These clinics are presented by
WALAX, and more information can be found here. The clinic this year for scorers and timekeepers is on February 28th. (a Sunday)

We look forward to a great Lax season, and hope to see you all there...

Seattle Prep LAX Clinic

It’s been brought to our attention that there will be a preseason Boy’s Youth Lacrosse Clinic hosted by Seattle Prep’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. This is a clinic for boys 7-14 of any skill level. The clinic will be held Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at 8am at Queen Anne Bowl. Please see the Information Flyer and Registration Form for more details.

In the past, these have been well attended by players from throughout our LAX community, and have been a great way to learn or strengthen skills before the season officially kicks off. Especially good for newbies to get their feet wet, so to speak...

Parent Meeting Set

Happy New Year Everyone!

The Parent Meeting has been set for Monday, January 25th, 2010, 6:30-8:00pm at the
Rainier Community Center. This is the same place as last year.

This is a mandatory meeting for parents or guardians of all players registered for the 2010 Wolfpack season. Please be sure to bring with you all signed copies of the
Liability Waivers (including the Concussion Information form) and a check made out to Ryan Kelly (the League coordinator) for the registration amount due.

--At least one parent/guardian for each player must attend! Players are not required to attend.--

Information to be covered will include practice times and schedules, introduction of coaches, player commitment level, and parent volunteer opportunities.

There will also be a Q&A session following the formal meeting, and a chance to mingle with other LAX families...you know, plan the carpools, tailgate parties, etc...

Kindly remember that your roster spot may be contingent upon attending this meeting. We do have a wait list of kids who’d love to play.

Please contact
Ryan Kelly directly with any questions or concerns...

Rosters for 2010 are full...

Registrations are now closed. All available roster positions for the 2010 Central Seattle Lacrosse Club have been filled.

We will not know what our final enrollment will be until after the mandatory parent meeting to be held in January 2010. If at that time, roster positions become available and you are on a Wait List, we will notify you of any change in your status.

Thank you for your support and the overwhelming response!

There are two other area Lacrosse programs that may or may not have openings for middleschool lacrosse this year. Check with either
Queen Anne Lacrosse or with Magnolia Unlimited Lacrosse Assosciation.

Registration Now Open For All

Registration is now Open to all players, new and returning.

Please be aware that the 5/6 team is full.

If you are trying to register for the 5/6 squad, your application will be added to a wait list in the order in which it was received. Rosters will not be finalized until after the Parent meeting held in January. Please contact
Central Seattle Lacrosse for more information.

The 3/4’s and the 7/8’s still have openings, and registration for those squads will be remain active until all available positions have been filled.

Registration for returning players is now open!

Registration for all
returning players is now open. If you are a player new to our program this season, please do not register yet. Your registration will not be accepted. We will open up registration to all new players shortly. Roster positions will be determined on a first come, first served basis.

We anticipate a full enrollment this season. Team rosters will be limited to 22 players to insure a quality experience, so if you are planning on coming back, now's your chance, don't delay!

As usual we'll be offering three teams, based on the player's school grade...a 3/4th grade, a 5/6th grade, and a 7/8th grade team. Current plans are for only one team at each grade level.

As it has in the past, practices will start in mid-February, with games starting in early March. The season will wrap up near the end of May. There are usually 10 games, all played on Saturdays.

Registration Starting Soon...

Registration for the 2010 season of Wolfpack Lacrosse is only a few days away. This year we have plans to field 3 teams--one in each age group.

At first, registration will be offered to returning players only. Players who did not play on one of the Wolfpack's teams last year will not be allowed to submit their application at this time.

Please check back in just a few days for more detailed information.

Delridge Playfield in West Seattle

The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department will hold a series of meetings to gather public input on the upcoming planned upgrade to the
Delridge Playfield.

Right now the field is a dirt/sand combination with lighting for night use. Plans are to install field turf. What we need is a significant turn out from the LAX community to insist that markings for Lacrosse be included in their plans. In the past, Parks and Recreation has resisted this since they felt it was too confusing to have so many markings on one field. Never mind that just about every field on the Eastside is marked for multiple sports. It was quite a fight, but they finally relented and the newly revamped
Miller Playfield has Lax markings.

With the recent burgeoning of lacrosse in this area, we need to actively add our voices to the mix to insure that we as taxpayers are heard and that our wishes be given equal consideration.

There are two meetings scheduled at this time: Monday, October 19th and Monday, November 23rd at 7-8:30 in the
Delridge Community Center.

Please come to either, or both, and make your voice heard.

It would sure be nice to be able to use a new quality field and bid
The Swamp a fond farewell...
