2010 Season Wrap-up

Well, we’ve just wrapped up another season of Central Seattle Wolfpack Lacrosse. Last weekend’s final games took place at Eastside Catholic. The 5/6 team lost a heartbreaker in OT 9-8, in a game that was perhaps the most exciting MS game of the season. We had rain--lots of it. We had scoring--lots of it. We had defense--lots of it. We just happened to end up on the short end though.

There was one time when Mary, at the table, looked over to Coach Quincy and said, “...Hey I think they are actually playing lacrosse!” Coach looked back and had to agree--in fact they were playing GOOD lacrosse! The 5/6 guys finished their season at 8-4-0.

The 7/8 had a somewhat easier time posting an 11-4 victory over their Eastside Catholic counterparts. In what was assistant coach Brian Schulz’s swan song, the 7/8 guys commanded the game from the very start. Near the end, attack men were playing defense, and defenders were taking shots. The senior guys ended their season with a splendid 10-2-0 record.

Last Sunday the Wolfpack held its End of Season Party at Genesee Field. League Coordinator
Ryan Kelly provided burgers and dogs, and party attendees provided everything else. The weather cooperated, everyone got plenty to eat, and we were able to thank the coaches and the parent volunteers who have contributed their time and effort that helped make this season as successful as it was. We’ve added a few photos of the event to the Photo Album.

We’d especially like to thank Peter Vogt, the 7/8 head coach who has leant his expertise and passion for the game to us for the past 4 years. He coached this past year despite an incredibly busy schedule and the fact that he did not even have a player in the program! His will be missed by us all, but we wish him well.

We’d also like to congratulate the 5/6 coach, Quincy Milton who will be returning next year to take over the 7/8 slot. Greg Fimmano, our 3/4 coach and all around good guy will be returning as the 3/4 coach next year. Thanks also to all the assistant coaches for your time as well; you are all welcomed back if you so choose!

As we head into the summer, it’s a good idea to try and keep those skills sharp. Check the
WALAX Summer Program Listings for Lax related camps and activities in your area. Also, you can check out the Lax Conditioning Page for some exercises and drills you can do without spending the money on camps, etc.

Thanks for all your support and kind comments and suggestions regarding our program. We have enjoyed the season and as hard as it is to believe, there is actually a small part of us looking forward to next season already--although we are taking a few deep breaths in relief that it’s over for now!

There will be few updates to this site until next season’s registration, which will start sometime in November 2010. If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, do not hesitate to
drop us a line.

GO WOLFPACK!!

Final Games are here!

The final games of the 2010 Wolfpack lacrosse season are upon us. Both the 5/6 and the 7/8 teams travel to the “plateau” for games with
Eastside Catholic this Saturday, May 22, 2010.

The 5/6 contest starts at 9am. Players should be at the field by 8am. It’s about a 40 minute drive from downtown Seattle for your reference, you can do the math...

The 7/8 game follows, scheduled start is at 11am. Players are requested to be game ready for warm ups by 10am...

This Sunday, May 23rd, The Central Seattle Lacrosse Club hosts its post season gala at
Genesee Field, 2:30-5pm. The exact location is the large field across Genesee Street from the main parking lot. The Club will be supplying grills, dogs, etc. Families are asked to provide their own drinks, and to bring something to share. Karen Bryan is coordinating, so if you have any questions, please contact her. You are also asked to bring something to sit on, either chairs or blankets, and to wish for nice weather...

Weekend Results for 5/15/2010

These are the results for the games played Saturday, May 15th, 2010:

This past Saturday, the 5/6 Wolfpack squad pulled out a close win over the 5/6 North Seattle Red. Backed up by solid performance from both defense and offense the Wolfpack held on to win 7-6 in a sun-filled contest at
Cleveland HS. Buoyed by a 12-save performance by goalie Stephen Strick, and an aggressive attack by Carter Smith and Beau Mckelvey, our guys played solid lacrosse throughout this contest, showing poise and patience in picking their scoring opportunities. The increase in their play skills has been astounding this year, and both they and their coaches should be proud. Their record is 7-3-0 for the season.

Following the 5/6 game, the older 7/8 ‘Pack had no trouble dispatching their opponents from North Seattle Red with a resounding 10-2 victory. Solid performances by playmaker Spencer Schulz and attackman Nico van der Meulen, anchored the Pack to their 9th win of the season. Their record now stands at 9-2-0.

The 5/6 team had postponed one game this season during the Spring break. Coach Milton is trying to arrange a makeup game this week which will replace one of the scheduled practices at Georgetown Playfield. Keep an eye out for details from the coach as plans are solidified.

Please keep next Sunday May 23rd reserved for the End of Season, all player party at
Genesee Park. Plans are to meet at the field north of the parking lot for a potluck barbecue and lax-fest. We’ll have several grills going so bring your favorites to share, and reminisce (or commiserate) about the past season. Let’s hope for some more sunshine!

Only one more weekend of games! Let’s go, Wolfpack!

Summer Camp Info and this Weekend's Games

Hello Wolfpack Nation!

As we near the end of the 2010 season, we have been getting some inquiries into what kind of programs are available for Summer Lax for those who want to keep their skills sharp, or just enjoy the game so much that they cannot get enough field time.

The most comprehensive list of Summertime lacrosse can be found on the
WALAX website. Scroll down about halfway and look for the “Summer Programs” on the right hand side.

We cannot recommend one program over the other. They are all quality programs, although some are decidedly more of a “pay-to-play” nature...

This weekend’s games for Saturday, May 15th:

The 5/6 team faces off against North Seattle Red 5/6 in a 10:30 start at
Cleveland HS.

The 7/8 team follows with a 12:15 start against North Seattle Red 7/8 also at
Cleveland HS.

Players are “invited” to be at the the field 1hr before their start time.

Please note that these will be the final Home games for the 2010 season. Next week’s games will be a back-to-back away series at
Eastside Catholic on the plateau.

Be advised that the 3/4 Wolfpack season has concluded with last week’s play...

In two weeks, on the Sunday after our last game of the season (May 23rd), we will be hosting an end-of-season all team party. It has proved impossible to secure either Cleveland or Georgetown Field for the event, so we are planning to meet instead on the field across the street from
Genessee Playfield. We will send out more specifics as time goes on.

We are planning to bring a couple of grills, a few goals, hot dogs, buns, etc, and would like others to fill out the feast with your own contributions.

And finally, from our friends up North, who find themselves in the NLL Final game at Comcast Arena in Everett, Wa...

This weekend's Games

This weekend’s games are on Saturday May 8th, 2010.

Our 3/4 program comes to a conclusion for this season with a 10:30 am start with the North Seattle 3/4 at our home field,
Cleveland HS. Please be at the field 45 minutes prior to the game for stretching and warm ups. This is the season’s final game for these guys, so please come on out and cheer them on!

The 5/6 Wolfpack will travel to the far reaches of Silverdale, WA to face Kitsap 5/6 in a ridiculously early 9am start. There are several alternate routes you can take...the ferry from downtown, the ferry from West Seattle, or you can drive around the South end of the Sound. You can get the
Washington State Ferry Schedules here.

Each route has its advantages and its drawbacks, so we’ll let you decide what is best for your situation. No matter which way you choose, it’ll be an early start. Coach Quincy Milton has asked to have players at
Ridgetop Junior High School Field no later than 8:15 am, 45 minutes before faceoff. I’m sure our guys will have to run around a bit to shake off the cobwebs and wakeup. I’m just glad that I’m not playing...

This game is followed by the 11am contest between the 7/8 Wolfpack and their Kitsap 7/8 opponents, also at
Ridgetop Junior High.

I just want to apologize for the late notice regarding the relocation of yesterday’s practice. This is the last time we’ll have to do that. There are no more practice sessions for the 3/4 team this season, and only 4 more for the older guys, all of which will be at
Georgetown Playfield from 5-7pm. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Good luck to everyone in this week’s contests. Please be careful and drive safely if you’re on the road...

Practice Location Change

Today, Wednesday 5/5/2010 the location for Wolfpack Practice has been once again changed to Cleveland HS instead of the normal location, Georgetown playfield. This is due to the fact that Seattle Parks and Recreation doubled booked our practice times and Seattle Prep’s JV games.

This is the last time this will happen, as the HS lax season is drawing to a close. Sorry for the late notice...

Upcoming Weekend's Games...

The games for Saturday, May 1st are as follows:

The 5/6 Wolfpack will take on the 5/6 Steillacoom squad in a 10:30am match at
Cleveland HS. Coach wants his players at the field by 9:30 for stretching and warmups.

The 7/8 ‘Pack will meet their Steillacoom counterparts for a 12:15 start, also at
Cleveland. Please be at the field 1 hr prior to gametime.

In their penultimate game, our 3/4 youngsters travel to
Queen Anne Bowl to take on Queen Anne 3/4 for a 1pm start. Please be at the field 45 minutes prior to game start. For those of you who have not played at Queen Anne Bowl, parking around game times can be a real challenge. They have lots of players and a 1pm start is pretty much at the peak of their day.

I just want to give a shout out to Peter Vogt and Bryan Schulz for having their 7/8 guys come on out to
Garfield HS’s Men’s Lacrosse game this past Wednesday. The Bulldogs find themselves in...well, a dogfight for post season play. In this game, they beat division leader Roosevelt to reinforce their playoff chances.

It meant a lot to the Garfield players, and their coaches to have such a great turnout for what was an important game. Coach Kelly sends his warmest regards your way, guys...

The Central Seattle Lacrosse Club needs volunteers from all teams to help organize the End of the Season Party. Current plans are to have a potluck/barbecue at Cleveland Field on Sunday, May 23rd. We’ll supply ‘dogs or burgers and buns, and we ask families to supply the sides, drinks and desserts. As plans are solidified we’ll let you all know of any cost (should be minimal) for the event. We’ll have a couple of goals set up and players can show off their skills...maybe we’ll even have a pickup game or two. If you can help, perhaps by organizing your teams participation, please
drop us a line and let us know...

Wednesday Practice Location Update

This Wednesday’s (4/28) practice has been changed to
Cleveland HS. There is a conflict between Seattle Prep’s JV game and our previously reserved practice times at Georgetown.

We have checked with Parks and Recreation and
Cleveland is indeed available. Time remains unchanged, still 5-7pm.

Thanks....

Results for Week 8...

These results are for games played April 24th...

The Central Seattle 5/6 Wolfpack found themselves in a contest dominated by defense this past weekend at Cleveland HS when they faced league-newcomer Harbor Fire 5/6. Goals were far-and-few for both sides in this game where the effectiveness of both keepers proved to be the deciding factor. Goals by Quincy Milton and Carter Smith and a 15-save performance by Stephen Strick anchored the ‘Pack to a 2-1 victory over their Gig Harbor opponents. Everyone worked hard however, with excellent team defense and a hard playing attack that scored when they were given the opportunity. With this win, the 5/6 squad improves their season record to 5-2-0, with a 4 game win streak

The 7/8 Wolfpack welcomed back their international traveling, award winning coach Peter Vogt this past Saturday. Their match with Harbor Fire 7/8 started off strong enough, with the ‘Pack jumping out to a 3-goal advantage early on. Our guys were worn down in the second half however by the Fire’s physical style of play, which was more reminiscent of football than Lax. I think most of their players were actually wearing football shoulder pads! Despite the combined efforts of keepers Max Schoenfeld and Spencer Schulz, the Wolfpack ultimately fell to their South Sound visitors 8-6. Yesterday’s loss drop the senior Wolfpack’s record to 6-2-0 for the season.

Our 3/4 squad played
another double header at Bothell HS yesterday afternoon. As soon as we get an update from Coach Fimmano, we’ll get it up here. These guys have played a number of these two-game marathons and it must be exhausting to both players and coaches.

We have also added a few more photos to the
Photo Gallery...

Games for Saturday 4/24

This is for games scheduled for Saturday, 4/24.

The day’s action commences with a 10:30 am start for our 5/6 team as they take on Gig Harbor’s HarborFire 5/6 at
Cleveland HS Field. Coach Milton would like his players on the field an hour before game time.

This game is followed immediately by the 7/8 ‘Pack’s contest with HarborFire 7/8 which is scheduled to get underway at 12:15 pm. Please have players ready to go by 11:15 am.

The 3/4 guys will be working double duty as they start the first half of a double bill at 3 pm with a faceoff with southend visitor, Puyallup Black. This match will be followed by a 5pm match with HarborFire 3/4. Both of these games will be at
Bothell High School.

I don’t know how the 3/4 guys keep getting these double headers, but we wish them, and their parents, our best. At least their season will be over in two weeks. The older guys will play for another month...

Looks like a 50-50 chance of rain on Saturday, so be sure to dress warmly and keep the rain gear handy.

See ya.

Practice Location for Wednesday

The location for Wednesday’s (4/21) practice has been changed again. It is now at
Genesee Field, on East Beacon Hill.

Earlier in the week we reported that it was to be moved to Cleveland, but due to field conditions and other factors it was re-relocated earlier today.

Session time remains 5-7pm.

Sorry for any extra confusion...

Week 7's Results...

The results from Week 7’s games are now in the books. All games were played at Cleveland HS field this past Saturday, 4/17, against representatives of Queen Anne Lacrosse

The 3/4 Wolfpack started off the weekend’s festivities with an excellent contest, that featured some pretty impressive Wolfpack passing and playmaking. Our guys showed a great deal of skill and patience in moving the ball efficiently, and making the most of their scoring opportunities. Since we do not officially keep score for these games, I can’t tell you who won, but if we had kept score our boys would have won by a wide margin. Everyone played well, with Mighty Myles and Warren taking shifts between the pipes to anchor the Wolfpack victory.

The 5/6 squad followed with a hard fought contest. Buoyed by solid offensive play by Quincy, Beau, and Jackson Evans, and equally effective defensive play by Henry Bryan and keeper Stephen Strick, the ‘Pack jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first half. The boys fought to maintain their lead through the game’s final quarter against a suddenly effective QA attack, and held on for an 8-5 victory. The 5/6 Wolfpack’s season record improves to a solid 4-2-0.

The day’s final contest pitted the heretofore undefeated 7/8 squad against a very, very solid Queen Anne team. This was an especially hard fought game, with solid play by both teams. The normally potent Wolfpack attack came up a bit short yesterday however, allowing the Warriors to post a final 8-6 tally over the ‘Pack. The 7/8 team suffers it’s first loss to post a 6-1-0 season record. The boys all played hard, however, and will surely bounce back next week. Assistant Coach Bryan Shulz’s record is now 1-1...

We’ve been putting together a
Photo Gallery of our teams’ play and have posted it at the link on the right. If you have any photos that you’d like to submit for publication, feel free to forward them, or a link to them on to Wolfpack Central and we’ll try and get them up.

Have a great week, and we’ll see you all next weekend...

This weekend's games...

We have finally hit the Trifecta...all three Wolfpack teams playing in the same place (
Cleveland HS)! I know this has been rare this season, so let’s enjoy it!

The day starts off with the 3/4 Wolfpack vs their counterparts from Queen Anne. Gametime is 9:30am, please be there 45 minutes prior to the faceoff.

The 5/6 will also play Queen Anne at 10:30am. Coach Quincy would like his players to report to the field no later than 1hr prior to the start.

The day’s action is rounded out with the 7/8 team trying to extend their undefeated season when they too take on Queen Anne. Players need to be ready to go 1 hr prior.

This is an excellent opportunity for the younger guys to hang around and watch the older guys do their thing. As each level progresses upward, the play become faster, and the skills more developed. The younger guys could really benefit from watching.

Weekend Update

This will be a rather quick update as there is little action this weekend due to ongoing Spring Break Vacations for many members.

The 5/6 game has been postponed, we are not sure when the new date is. Please check with you coach.

The 7/8 game, originally scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Sunday, April 11th at 7pm at
Lower Woodland Park.

Our 3/4 squad WILL be playing at 9:30 am at
Cleveland. Coach Fimmano would like his players on site 45 minutes prior to game time.

This coming week, ALL teams will be back on schedule for practices. Both Monday’s and Wednesday’s sessions will be at
Georgetown Playfield, as originally scheduled.

Week 5's Results

The results of Week 5’s games played April 3rd are as follows:

The 5/6 Wolfpack improved their season record to 3-2-0 with a 9-8 OT decision against Kitsap 5/6 in a home contest at damp Cleveland High School field. On a slower than normal surface the younger Wolfpack squad proved their mettle with a solid showing on this cool Saturday morning. The game see-sawed most of the day with neither team gaining more than a two goal advantage. Once again, late in the 4th quarter the ‘Pack came back’ to tie the contest at 8-8.

With less than 2 minutes gone in the Sudden Victory OT period, Quincy Milton poked in the game winner. Young Mr. Milton ended the day with 4 goals, while solid play from Beau McKelvey and a “bruising” performance by Jackson Evans topped the day’s success. In fact the entire Wolfpack squad was responsible for this great all ‘round effort.

The 7/8 Wolfpack continued their winning ways with an overwhelming 10-1 blowout of Lakeside at Lakeside Middle School. Coach Peter Vogt has his team hitting on all cylinders this year with his more experienced players leading the way, showing the result of all the hard work that this team has done so far.

What is truly remarkable about their performance is that 70-80% of all goals scored this season have been on assists! This is very rare in a middle school team, in fact it’s rare in a team at any level! It’s a testament to unselfish, balanced play and it’s a real pleasure to watch.

The senior ‘Pack remains undefeated at 5-0-0 for the season...

The 3/4 guys got a much deserved weekend off, after their doubleheader last weekend, and the one that’s coming up this one. No rest for the weary, I suppose...

As far as we know, all teams will be practicing this week at normal times and location. Please check with your individual coach, or watch out for notices from them for any changes.

Also please keep an eye open for mention of any changes to this weekend’s games. With Spring Break ending for some, starting for others, and in some case continuing on, please keep you coach informed of your intention to show up for this weekend’s contests. With enough warning, games will not have to forfeited, but instead can be rescheduled to an alternate date.

Have a great week...

Week 5 Game Schedules

Week 5’s games to be played Saturday, 4/3/2010 are as follows:

The 5/6 Wolfpack will face off against Kitsap 5/6 in a home contest at
Cleveland HS starting at 10:30 am. Coach Milton would like players to be at the field by 9:30 for warm ups and stretches. Be advised that the weather may not be anything like it’s been for the past couple of weeks. Dress in layers and provide some post game warmth.

The 7/8 squad will travel to
Lakeside Middle School for an 11am contest with Lakeside 7/8. Please be at the field ready to go at 10 am. It will most likely be a wet one, so dress accordingly...

The 3/4 squad is idle this week...

The Spring Break season is upon us. Since Central Seattle draws from many different schools with an array of vacation schedules, this is a challenging time for coaches to field an effective team. Please be sure and contact your coach directly, not us, with any vacation plans that may affect your son’s attendance. With enough advance warning and a cooperative opponent, games can often be rescheduled. It’d be a real shame to show up to play without enough guys to field a team, and be forced to forfeit.

We will keep you apprised to the best of our ability of any changes to the schedules. The Sportability schedules are considered the final authority, however. (These are the ones you get when you click on the links to the right)

From all of us here at Wolfpack Central, we wish you a great Spring break, and if you have travel plans, have a safe trip. Play some wall ball, and stay in shape!

Week #4 Results

Greetings, Wolfpack Nation. Here are the results from Week 4’s games. Games were held on Saturday, March 27th.

The 7/8 Wolfpack continued their winning ways with a solid 12-6 victory over Northshore at
Lower Woodland Park. After going down by 2 goals in the opening quarter, it was all Wolfpack for the rest of the game. With what has become their trademark this season of balanced, multi player scoring the ‘pack was back in control solidly by the second half. Buoyed by outstanding goalie work by rookie Daniel Bryan, the 7/8 Wolfpack improved their season record to a perfect 4-0-0.

Our 5/6 squad bounced back from last week’s disappointing performance with a dramatic OT victory over the Magnolia Unlimited “Propellers”. The first period saw our guys jump out to an early lead and along with JT Schulz’s and Beau McKelvey’s first ever career goals, hold onto it until late in the 4th. Magnolia fought back to tie up the contest at 6-all with two quick goals as the clock ran out. Marcus Layton scored early in the four minute sudden victory overtime period effectively sealing the deal for the Wolfpack, sending them on to a 2-2-0 record for the season. Keeper Stephen Strick racked up 11 saves in the game to anchor the 5/6 Wolfpack in this well deserved win. Coach Milton praised his team for playing through adversity and showing a lot of heart in their performance.

The younger 3/4 guys played a brutal double header against two different Lake Tapps teams down at
Game Farm Field in Auburn. The following wrap up is from Coach Greg Fimmano:

“...The Wolf Pack 3/4 team played our best team lacrosse of the season so far. Offensively, the boys stayed spread out and moved the ball quickly and effectively through the air resulting in numerous textbook plays. The defense was stingy -- excellent goalie play coupled with aggressively protecting the hole. Despite the back to back double header, the boys received high complements from our opposition for their relentless hustle...”

Just a couple of quick notes. As we head into the Easter Break season for many schools you are reminded to check your team’s schedule for any changes.I am aware that the 7/8 game on 4/10 has been changed to 4/11 at 7pm at
Lower Woodland. The 5/6 team is also pursuing a change to that weekend’s games as well, although nothing has yet been finalized.

If anyone has any decent pictures from any game, please feel free to send them on to us here at
Wolfpack Central, and we will get them up for all to see.

And finally, all practices this week will be at
Georgetown Playfied from 5-7pm as normal.

Week 4 Games

The upcoming games for this Saturday 3/27, are as follows:

The 7/8 Wolfpack starts off the days’ games with a 9am game against North Seattle Blue. Location is the new turf fields at
Lower Woodland Park. This will be an early start, so no sleepovers. Please be at the field, ready to go by...gulp...8am!

Our 5/6 squad looks to rebound this week with their 11am match with Magnolia White, also at
Lower Woodland Park. Please be ready to start warmups by 10am.

The 3/4 guys once again take their show on the road with another doubleheader to be held at
Game Farm Park in Auburn. The 1st contest gets underway at 1pm vs Lake Tapps Red. This game is followed immediately by a 2pm contest with Lake Tapps White. This day looks to be the toughest on their schedule, with back to back games against two tough opponents. Please be sure to have plenty of water and perhaps a light snack for between game consumption. Warm ups begin 45 minutes before game time, please be there by 10:15 am. This field is in Auburn, and if memory serves, it’s about 40-45 minutes away. Please plan accordingly...

Wednesday practice location changes

This Wednesday’s (3/24) Wolfpack practice will be held at
Cleveland High School (our home field). This will also be true for the following dates:

April 21st, April 28th and May 5th.

This is due to a conflict with Seattle Prep’s JV games, where Parks and Recreation gave preference to their games over our practices.

All of our team practices on these dates will be shifted to
Cleveland.

These changes are also reflected on the
Calendar.

Week 3's Game Results

These are the results of Week 3’s games, played on 3/20/201.

The 5/6 Wolfpack (1-2-0) ran into a buzzsaw of a physically larger, well prepared Lake Forest Park/Shoreline team this past Saturday. Our guys just could not seem to find their offensive groove early on and quickly fell to a multi goal deficit. Despite some great play in the second half by the attack, LFP’s smothering defense proved to be too much to overcome. Final score was 13-7 for LFP. Honoring the game selections went to Quincy Milton III (A) and Stephen Strick (G).

The senior Wolfpack (3-0-0) faced their LFP/Shoreline counterparts in the day’s second game at Cleveland. Trailing through 3 quarters, the Wolfpack roared back in the 4th. Buoyed by Dylan’s 4-goal performance, the Purple spread their attack out with 5 team members scoring at least once and seven members adding assists. Michael Karges, in his first appearance as goalie, added 9 saves to anchor the Wolfpack’s 9-8 victory.

The day’s final game saw our younger 3/4 guys face their LFP 3/4 foes in an away game at North City Elementary. Displaying a smothering, collapsing defense, the Wolfpack played hard the entire game. Their efforts were rewarded late in the 4th with an outstanding goal with no time left on the clock! That along with the excellent sunny weather, made for a pretty outstanding day.

Week 3 Games, Times and Locations

It looks like we will have another stellar weather window for Week 3’s games this Saturday, 3/20. We have been very lucky this year...so far!

The 5/6 Wolfpack (1-1-0) will look to continue their winning ways with a 10:30 am contest at our home field
Cleveland with the 5/6 team from Lake Forest Park-Shoreline. Coach Milton would like all his players to be at the field, ready to start warmups by 9:30 am, please.

Following at 12:15 pm, also at
Cleveland, our older 7/8 Wolfpack (2-0-0) team will try and extend their two game winning streak in a game with the 7/8 Lake Forest Park-Shoreline squad. These guys have been pretty good competitors over the years, and should provide a very entertaining contest.

Rounding out the day’s action, the 3/4 guys will travel to
North City Elementary to face the 3/4 Lake Forest Park-Shoreline in away game action. Game time is 12:30 pm. Once again, please be at the field early enough to get geared up and warmed up, at least 45 minutes prior.

We have also just received the following notification, and League Coordinator Ryan Kelly has asked me to post this:

GO WOLFPACK!

Week 2 Results

Here now the results from Week 2’s action:

The 5/6 Wolfpack played a very even contest with the Highline Club in week two action. Anchored by solid play across the board, the game was a seesaw type match with Highline gaining the early advantage, only to be evened up time and time again by a very persistent Central team. The climax came in the 4th quarter when the ‘Pack came back from a 4 goal deficit to go up by one. A game winning save by first time goalie Stephen Strick and two hat tricks, one by Will Scherwin and the other by Quincy Milton put this one out of reach for Highline. The final tally was 9-8 in favor of our boys!

The 7/8 squad followed with a solid 6-3 victory over their counterparts from Highline. This game was once again a showcase for the team’s balanced attack, with scores coming from four different players. The defense played well, constantly disrupting Highline’s attack. That coupled with keepers Tommy Day’s and Nico van der Meulen’s efforts between the pipes led to a very solid second win of the season for the veteran ‘Pack.

The young 3/4 squad played a “double header” at our home field Cleveland on Saturday as well. The first a contest with University Place, and the second with another south end visitor, Lake Tapps.

Practice Location Changes:

We have been informed by
Seattle Parks and Recreation late last week of some changes made to our practice schedule. They have decided that Seattle Prep’s JV games should take precedence over our previously scheduled Wednesday sessions at Georgetown Field. As a result, we will be relocating our Wednesday March 17th practice to Cleveland High School, our home game field. Although there are no lights, the start of Daylight Saving Time should mitigate the issue. This will affect us for five Wednesdays throughout the rest of the 2010 season. We will update the Calendar and keep you all informed as time goes on.

Practice times remain at 5-7pm. Mondays’ sessions will not be affected.

Week 2 Game Info

Greetings Wolfpack!

Week 2’s games are coming up in short order, so it’s time for the update.

The 5/6 and the 7/8 squads will meet their respective representatives of the Highline Lacrosse Club in back-to-back contests at
Manhattan School Park. The 5/6 contest gets under way at 12pm. The 7/8 game, originally scheduled for 10am, has been moved to 2pm.

Our 3/4 team will play
two games at our home field at Cleveland High School on Saturday. The first one gets under way at 9:30am against University Place. An 11:30am contest against Lake Tapps Red will follow immediately. Please be sure your player has a snack or something to get an energy boost between games and be sure to bring plenty of water.

It may vary from coach to coach, but players are expected to be at the field, geared-up and ready to go one hour before game time. This affords teams the time to get warmed up and stretched out properly (important for cool weather play) and allows coaches to get in some last minute instructions.

Please check with your individual coach regarding any scheduling issues. It’s also advisable to let your coach know ahead of time if your player will not be participating. This helps them set their lines and set some strategy for the day’s contests. Visit your teams “Team Cowboy” website for more info.

Good luck to all Wolfpack teams this weekend. We look forward to seeing you out there!

Results for Game 1

OK, Wolfpack Nation. Week 1’s games are in the books. Here now the results:

We could not have asked for a better day to kick off the season. The sunshine and temperatures were spectacular. Please remember this day, as the usual weather for Lax seems to be wet, cold and windy. I believe last year’s opener saw snow...

The 5/6 squad opened the season with a very closely played contest against Bainbridge Blue at
Cleveland. After a somewhat tentative 1st quarter, our guys found their groove and pulled into an early 2-goal advantage. Bolstered by a strong defensive effort, the Wolfpack played solid Lacrosse for the entire game. Although Bainbridge ultimately won the contest 6-5, our boys were on a roll in the fourth quarter and looked poised for the win, but unfortunately the final horn sounded just a bit too soon. All in all, an excellent first effort!

The 7/8 team, also in a home contest at
Cleveland, faced their 7/8 Bainbridge Blue counterparts. This game was characterized by very solid, steady play against a somewhat overmatched Bainbridge team. The offense executed well, and the defense, despite being somewhat “fluid” in nature (...here, take this long pole and get out there, you’ll figure it out...), protected their own goal pretty well. Both Wolfpack keepers turned in solid performances during their respective shifts. Scoring was well distributed with six players scoring at least one goal. Our guys played with a lot of enthusiasm which ultimately led to the final 8-4 tally for the ‘Pack.

The 3/4 Squad faced the Magnolia Black team in their 3pm contest at
Whitman Middle School. Here’s some commentary from Coach Fimmano:

“...Our guys came out strong against an experienced Magnolia Black team, gathering most of the Q1 ground balls and creating numerous scoring opportunities through staying spread and finding open players. Magnolia found it's pace in the 2nd quarter, owning time of possession and slashing through our defense for some scores. We regrouped well at halftime and played great team defense in Q3, sliding to the ball and forcing turnovers. The Wolfpack took control in Q4 with great ground ball play, clearing and time of possession, ending the game strong. Overall, a very competitive game and a great start to the season!”

Weekend Games for 3/6/2K10

Greetings, Wolfpack Nation!

This Saturday, March 6th sees all three Wolfpack Teams in action. The 5/6 squad starts the day off with a 10:30 am contest against the 5/6 Bainbridge Blue team at
Cleveland High School.Players are requested to be suited up and ready for warm ups 45 minutes before the game.

The 7/8 Wolfpack will meet their 7/8 Bainbridge Blue counterparts at 12:15pm, also at
Cleveland. The Bainbridge teams are LAX powerhouses, with at least two, and sometimes three full squads at all age levels. They will surely be a test for the Wolfpack teams. Please be at the field 45 minutes before the game for warm ups.

The final game of the day will feature the 3/4 squad in an away game against the 3/4 Magnolia Black. This is a club that had its start about the same time that we started, so they are a great competitor, especially so last year when they fielded a team made up of both Magnolia and Queen Anne kids. Their game will get underway at 3pm at
Whitman MS field up there in Ballard, you betcha... Please arrive 30 minutes prior to game time...

The weather looks promising, but LAX, being an all weather event, will go on rain, snow, or shine. Players and parents should be sure to dress for the elements.

Good luck to all this weekend.

GO WOLFPACK!!
